The Cultural Revolution Has Come to California

The Cultural Revolution! It seems that the younger generation has forgotten it… Did they ever know it, or even hear about it? It raged in China for a whole decade, from 1966 to 1976, and allowed Mao Zedong to consolidate his power. Remember: the Red Guards had all the power, “intellectuals were publicly humiliated, mandarins and elites were flouted, traditional Chinese cultural values and some Western values were denounced in the name of the fight against the “Four Old Things”” 1. Public self-criticism of teachers is required, and woe to anyone who does not conform to the precepts of the Little Red Book! "The great proletarian cultural revolution aims to liquidate bourgeois ideology, to implant proletarian ideology, to transform man in his deepest being, to realize his ideological revolution, to uproot the roots of revisionism, to consolidate and develop the socialist system."

The spirit of the Cultural Revolution took hold of the higher education system in California at the college, intermediate between the high school (high school) and university. This is Corine Lesnes, correspondent for Monde in San Francisco who tells us about it2. What can we do but quote the first sentences of his article? "The 61 teachers of community colleges are required to integrate an anti-racist perspective into their courses and to identify their biases in this regard. They are asked to demonstrate a constant awareness and recognition of racial identities with an understanding of their significance in creating structures of oppression. They are encouraged to identify their biases and the harm caused by their behaviors. Any professor who claims not to be racist is in denial. Anyone who claims to teach on merit is only reinforcing the dominant ideology.. Merit protects white privilege ».

I rewrite the description of the Cultural Revolution, changing just a few words: “The great awakening movement aims to liquidate white ideology, to implant woke ideology, to transform man in his deepest being, to realize his ideological revolution, to uproot the roots of white privilege, to consolidate and develop the anti-racist system.” And then I rewrite the manifesto of the community college leadership as Corine Lesnes describes it to us: “Professors are required to integrate a socialist perspective into their courses and to identify their prejudices in this area. They are invited to demonstrate a constant awareness and recognition of proletarian identities with an understanding of their significance in the creation of structures of oppression. They are recommended to identify their class prejudices and the harm caused by their behavior. Any professor who claims not to be bourgeois is in denial. Anyone who claims to practice merit-based teaching only reinforces the dominant ideology. Merit protects bourgeois privilege.”

"All great events repeat themselves, as it were, twice," wrote Hegel, which Marx completed with the following: "The first time as tragedy, the second time as farce." When will the farce of wokism be over? If it is a farce, who will be the turkey?
